The main shopping district of Takamatsu is a a long arcade that stretches through the centre of town.
I had a wander, peeking into the shops along the way. I eventually found myself in an area with pop up counters selling ice cream, beer and chips. I was also greeted by the familiar sounds of Jamiroquai's Virtual Insanity. I caught the end of it and the DJ playing his set went smoothly into Do You Really Want To Hurt Me? by Culture Club. I don't know many DJs who reach for these tracks but it was a pleasant surprise and brought a big smile to my face.
Wandering along a bit further I passed by the familiar sights of Muji and Asics. I needed sleeping pills to counter my jet lag. I walked around for a while in this pharmacy but I was quite certain I would not be able to find them on my own. I asked the staff "Sumimasen, Suiminkaizenyaku doko desu ka?" having the word for sleeping pills/aid ready on my phone to read out. I still managed to butcher it.
Going back the way I came I ran into a pop up stall selling matcha. The two young guys had a small crowd in front of them as they prepared different variations of the drink. The menu had matcha latte, matcha americano, matcha guava, and matcha soda among others.
I got chatting to one of the guys asking him for his recommendation and he mentioned the matcha with guava. Unfortunately because it had milk I opted for the matcha soda with some sweetener. While this was being made the guy I was chatting with was getting down to the reggae beats of Carlton & The Shoes. Give Me Little More isn't on Spotify, thankfully I managed to find it on Youtube.
He told me some information about the brand. It was called Sabi and said I should visit the main store, just a five minute walk away. I'll head there soon to try some more matcha drinks.
